She thought he sounded intelligent, friendly and approachable. She knew what to wear for this first important meeting. She knew that dressy casual would give the message she desired. Not over the top, she thought, yet showing a style which summed up her attitude to life. After all she had described herself as a ‘stylish redhead with a definite flair for looking good, seeking the company of a well-educated non-smoking optimist, late 40s to 50s. Must enjoy a comfortable and sophisticated lifestyle, have a good sense of humour and a heavy dose of enthusiasm.’
Imagine Carolyn’s surprise when Tony met her wearing faded jeans, plaid shirt and scuffed boots. Immediately she rejected him as a potential partner.
